Streetscapes
Views of life on the street
Streetscapes covers a broad brush of styles and subjects, from deserted streets to the cut and thrust of daily life. most are British streetscapes, but you may find a few more exotic locations over time.
When we visit a new place or even a place we have vistied before we always look for the roads less traveled, the little back lanes that most walk strait past.
There are some magical hidden places in most towns and cities if you just look hard enough.
This post covers just few of the steetscape images i have captured over the years. I have tired to seperate it into different sections to make it easier to navigate.
The streets at night
There is somthing magical about a street at night, a deserted street can reveal so much of the history of your location, and give you a totally different view of life.
Obviously you have to pick your streets and make sure you and you gear are safe. I have only had one situation where things nearly went wrong on that front but I am a countryman so life in big cities often passes me by but an awareness of what and who is around you are always good.
Views into the past - the North East
Some streetscapes leave you wondering who has troden this path before. There are many historic paths and alley ways just waiting to be disocovered hidding in plain sight.
One of our favourite places to visit is Newcastle-upon-tyne or the “Toon” there are so many magical hidden places to find and explore all be it some are less accessible to Mrs Cat paw than others.
These steps are hidding in plain site just off the Quay side in Newcastle, leading to 5-13 side* they are access throught a gate from the road. we must have passed this spot hundreds of times before we noticed them.
*A near vitical road leading to the back of the cathedral and castle keep form the quay
Two views of Dog leap stairs, also leading between side and the castle keep they must have seen many millions of feet over the centuries giving access the quayside from the highlevel bridge.
A street in the sky
There are no less than 7 bridges crossing the tyne at Newcastle, one of the most interesting apart from the Tyne bridge is the High level Bridge. not only is it a road bridge but also a foot and rail bridge too.
These 4 views two of each side of the bridge show different aspects of its life and my photography.
Smugglers paths
Smugglers paths – Another area we love to visit it Cornwall and the south west in general. Both of us have links to the westcountry with my family coming from devon and Mrs Catpaws from Cornwall. Don’t worry we don’t have scone wars honest.
If you look in the hidden corners of most coastal villages you will find paths and passages leading to hidden away places.
