The Bodmin & Wenford Railway runs over part of the former Bodmin & Wadebridge Railway.
Now running from Bodmin Parkway to bodmin General and Boscarne Junction the Line runs for 13 miles through the cornish countryside. For more information take a look at the Bodmin & Wenford Railway website
Our visit back in 2019 was an amazing experiance and we hope to go back at some point but since 2019 we have onel visited Cornwall out of range rover mating season (summer holidays)
Sadly our visit coinsided with the Bodmin and Wenford railways memorial weekend for their late traction inspector Tony Hallworth.
I was however asked if the railway could share my images on social media, and on there website, permission I was happy to grant.
This Image of GWR ‘8750’ Class 0-6-0 Pannier Tank No. 4612 carying the memorial reath on her boiler door was taken at Bodmin General as she was shunting around her train.
Another image of Loco 4612 at Bodmin Parkway alongside a mainline train. Note the name Tony on the head board.
The crew are awaiting clearince to run round there train.
Running round the trian at Bodmin Parkway 4612 shows why these little 0-6-0 Loco’s were used on a lot of the GWR network with its tight turns and smaller lines.
The opposite End of the train at Bodmin Parkway.
The siding to the left leads to the Carriage sheds while the line to the right leads back to Bodmin General.
Looking along the lines from Bodmin General. Because of the way the lines work Bodmin general was as double terminus being the end of the line from Bodmin park (BP) way to the left and the old Wadebridge line to the right. meaning any train wishing to go from Wadebridge to the mainline at bodmin parkway had to shunt round.
This was a quirk caused by the fact that the line from Boscarne Junction to BG was a branch line meeting up with the line from bodmin parkway.
This is still how it workes today so you take a run up to BP you then return to BG and the locomotive rund round the trian ready to then take you to Boscarne Junction.
